The technical factor involves the analysis of stock price and volume data to evaluate investments. This is contrasted to fundamental investors who focus on financial statement metrics. Technical traders utilise statistical trends in trading activity to model stock price movements. Unlike the longer rebalance periods used in fundamental strategies, technical traders generally focus on short holding periods in order to realise return. Technical indicators include 3, 6, 9 and 12 month momentum, simple-moving-averages (SMA) and relative strength indicators (RSI). While value involves the convergence to fair price, it is said that momentum investing involves the convergence from fair price.
