Aikido is the new way to invest. It’s all driven by data, we put the power of data behind your investing. This allows you to make decisions based on evidence, not emotion. Our quantitative strategies are quick and easy to use – you can create an investment portfolio in less than 10 minutes. Our strategies are built using a variety of investing factors and are backtested over 20+ years.

Generally there is a 4 step process to building a factor-based quant strategy. We use this format at Aikido:

  1. Universe selection: We analyse the whole stock universe and cap the market, country-wise and industry-wise. Example: US micro-cap stocks (1500 stocks)
  2. Filters: We measure and filter the different factors of the stock which would be value, health, quality, dividend, and technical. Example: price/sales < 1 & positive 3&6 month price momentum (92 stocks)
  3. Rank: We rank the remaining stocks based on 1 or more other metrics. eg. Highest 12-month price increase
  4. Pick: Create your portfolio using the companies at the top of the list, usually 10-20 stocks.

Our long-term strategies have backtested returns up to 25% per year. You can check out our catalog of strategies here.

Aikido Basic is totally free to use! With the basic tier, you get access to basic investment strategies and paper trading.

To access premium strategies, broker integration (live-trading), and impact add-ons, you can upgrade to Aikido for $25 per month or $240 per year.. You can check out our plans here.

The average annual return is the geometric mean return of the strategy since the beginning of the dataset. It is the primary method of gauging long-term performance. You can find our calculation for the metric on Aikido Learn.

Aikido does the research so you don’t have to. We process hundreds of gigabytes of high-quality financial data from Factset, dating back to 1980 and updated every 15 minutes. We have identified the characteristics which best explain the return of stocks. Based on these factors, we have curated a catalog of performant quantitative strategies. Many of these are derived from the methodologies of some of the world’s most iconic investment managers.

Make the most informed decisions about how to build your portfolio!

Aikido curates quantitative strategies, enabling you to view their backtested performance metrics. Select a strategy that best suits your goals and we’ll provide you with a list of companies that fit the criteria. Once you’ve created your portfolio, manage and track its performance over its lifetime.

Quantitative investing involves making investment decisions using a systematic approach – following a recipe or set of rules based on long term historical evidence. It is the search for above average returns using data. The Aikido catalog is a great resource for quantitative investment strategies.

Basic investment strategies from the Aikido Catalog such as Concentrated Quality are totally free to use! Our mission is to democratize Wall Street. Quantitative investment strategies have required upwards of $100,000 to even get started. We make our strategies available to everyone. You can get started for free here.

We currently add strategies on a monthly basis after an extensive in-house research period. Our strategies are thoroughly researched to ensure that they are simple to understand and provide good risk-adjusted and diversified performance. Our investment strategies are based on peer reviewed research that has been published in reputable academic journals. We always provide detailed references to the original author’s work for each strategy.

Our strategies use US equities (companies) and are long only. We will be expanding our strategies in the coming months to include global scope, ETFs, and crypto.

A good investment strategy should have a clearly defined thesis. For example: “This year, I will be implementing the Top Quality and High Momentum strategy. I will be investing $5000 in the strategy. These stocks have high return on equity and price momentum. I will create a 20 stock portfolio using the investment strategy and invest an additional $500 each month. This strategy has averaged a return of 16.10% over the past 20 years.“

The best long term investment strategies utilize investing factors such as value, dividend, quality, size, or volatility. Factor investing involves selecting stocks based on the characteristics which best explain returns. The benefits of factor investing include risk management, diversification and outperformance. Some sample investment strategies are Superior and Steady StocksThe Stable DividendMicrocap Momentum.

Backtesting is a method for seeing how well an investment strategy would have done historically. It is the process of testing a trading strategy over prior time periods. It is used by many different kinds of quantitative investors including day-traders, algo-traders and factor investors.

You can place either a market or a limit order – a market order should execute immediately. After purchasing AKDO, keep going through the rest of the list, purchasing each. Once you have purchased all the holdings you wanted to, click on the confirmation.

Our investment strategies are based on peer reviewed research that has been published in reputable academic journals. The paper that a strategy is based on can be found at the bottom of any strategy. The strategies are researched and implemented by the quant team at Aikido.

Our aim at Aikido is to bring quantitative investing to everyone. We want to bridge the gap between passive and active investing, providing the simplicity of passive investing with the potential outperformance of the active approach. Quantitative investing has traditionally been viewed as a cryptic domain, reserved only for sophisticated financial firms who have access to vast amounts of data and talent. Our goal is to change the status-quo by democratising quantitative investing. We present long-term, outperforming quantitative strategies, enabling you to optimise your portfolio with just a few clicks.

We are a team of Irish computer scientists with experience in quantitative and fundamental investing. We formulated the idea for Aikido in 2019 when we began building a back-tester. We coined the project ‘Doubting Thomas’, as we were skeptical of the abnormally high returns obtained by some simple systematic strategies. The premise of the project was to verify these results while giving us the ability to investigate the interaction of various blends of factors. We found the quantitative tools available to retail investors were limited. Additionally, a high level of prerequisite knowledge is the standard. This is where the idea for Aikido was formed – we empower the everyday investor to manage their own investment portfolio.

If you need support or have any questions feel free to reach us on support@aikido.finance and we will try to get in touch with you as soon as possible. You can also reach out via live chat which can be found in the bottom right corner of the app. We usually respond within 12 hours
